The final was played on a league basis thus ensuring all teams present had six games which were indeed most competitive as revealed in the results table. In the opening round Warrenpoint overcame Attical, Magheramayo beat Kliclief while Grange succumbed to the girls from Kilcoo. Into the second round and Warrenpoint lost out to Kilclief, Attical were too strong for Portaferry while Kilcoo drew with the much fancied Magheramayo team. Round three brought the two local sides into conflict, Grange and Attical and after a keenly contested match the young Attical girls won by the narrowest of margins. Meanwhile, Magheramayo overcame Warrenpoint and Kilclief subdued the Portaferry team. In round four, Magheramayo maintained their unblemished record at the expense of Grange, Portaferry improved to defeat a tiring Warrenpoint team with Attical losing to Kilcoo by a single score. Round five saw Grange overcome Warrenpoint, Portaferry being too strong for Kilcoo while Kilclief and Attical played out a scoreless draw. Round six witnessed Kilclief renew their challenge for honours with a hard won victory over a gallant Kilcoo team while the other teams played out draws. Heading into the final round, St. Malachy’s Kilclief were trailing St. Matthew’s Magheramayo by a single point while St. Malachy’s Kilcoo were level with St. Mary’s Portaferry but two points in arrears. What a surprise packet this round was as Warrenpoint beat Kilcoo, Magheramayo slumped to a three goals defeat at the hands of otherwise dsiappointing Portaferry and Kilclief overcame Grange by a single score.
